We hadn't heard from the dealer by 10 or 11 am, so I finally called my buddy Joey to see how our truck was doing and if the part came in .... and I got his voicemail ..... =\ I left him a super nice voicemail asking him for an update.
We happened to be out running an errand when I called Joey and after leaving the voicemail, I was a bit discouraged. I REALLY hoped he wasn't avoiding my call.
I started praising God for His work in our behalf and taking a bunch of deep breaths. Me getting all frustrated wasn't going to fix anything.
About that time, we were driving back to the campground through a very rural area when we see this huge black and white bird swoop down right next to the road to pick something up. As we get closer we realize it is A BALD EAGLE! It swooped down by the road right where we were driving and flew right back up into the trees. I didn't have any type of camera ready to take its pic, but it was beautiful!
Joey called me back about 10 minutes later and gave us the best news! The truck would be ready in an hour and we were ready to go!
We dropped D off at the camper to get everything ready while J dropped me at the dealer and went to return the rental car. At the dealer, I settled with the cashier and headed out to the truck. But when I got there, the truck wouldn't start, the batteries were totally dead. :(
I headed back in to my buddy Joey and told him the truck wouldn't start. Supposedly they had taken the truck for a drive and now it wouldn't start?!
Come to find out, the week our truck sat in their shop, the mechanics left the hood up which drained the batteries. That was VERY inconsiderate and unprofessional on the part of their mechanics.
Their service guys brought out a couple machines to jump both batteries and I was on my way.
FINALLY!!!
We let J's parents know where we were headed and they were going to head out in the morning.
Instead of going by their house first, we decided on meeting up on the highway somewhere north.
We were going to drive as far as we could, sleep a bit then continue on in the morning.
We tried to make it to Mobile before we stopped, but decided to stop before then to get some rest and then start back early in the morning.
