And Guess What They Told Me?!
They needed me out of the spot I was in by Wednesday MORNING because they had the spot pre-paid out for the FSU football game!!!
perfect
Dealer still hadn't looked at the truck. J was getting hostile and we were going to have to pay a couple hundred AGAIN because we needed to move our rig to God knows where.
super
I had been praying all this time for the right things to happen and it seemed like my prayers were going no where. At every turn, it was one thing after another after another.
But I stopped telling God how horrible this mountain was and started telling this mountain about my God. I started praising God for working in our behalf and fixing this for us. I didn't know how He was going to work it out, but I knew He could.
After everything that had happened to us over the previous several days, I was at the point I would not have been nice. I wanted to scream. On the inside there was a screaming, crazy woman wanting to come out. But I knew that if I wanted to walk the talk, I had to do the right thing, befriend the dealership people to get them to help us. They didn't HAVE to do anything for us. I had already been praying for the mechanics and the service guy who took care of Ram trucks, Joey, but it seemed like the more J called, the less they were interested in helping us.
I had J run me up to the dealership. He was convinced it would do no good, but I was prayerful and hopeful that God would move on our behalf.
I went into the dealership and saw who Joey was. He was on the phone and seemed pretty stressed out. I kept praying. There were a few other people in the service area, and I waited until he got off the phone. When I could see he was off, I walked up to his desk, still praying. I could see he had two huge boxes of donuts on his desk and thought, ok, an ice breaker.
As I got to his desk, I smiled and said "Joey?" He looked up and smiled and said yes, how can I help you? I introduced myself and literally, I saw his face change ..... and not for the better :( I didn't let it deter me. I briefly explained that I was in a pinch and asked if it would be alright if I waited in their service lobby to discuss our truck once they were able to look at it? He shrugged and said, yeah, I guess but it might be a while. I just smiled and said, alright. Thank You for your help! I greatly appreciate you!
I went into the service area not very encouraged, but still prayerful. Kept thanking God for working this out for us and started working on testing an app for J. More and more people came to sit in the same waiting area as I expected.
It wasn't 10 minutes later, a man named Joshua came into the service waiting area, pretty happy guy and kind of talking to everyone. He asked if everyone was doing ok and if anyone needed anything. I thought to myself, yeah! I need someone to look at my truck, I need to leave Tallahassee! but I didn't say anything. I thought, he's just doing this to be nice, I'll just be politically correct and not say anything. Josh walked closer to me and looked me straight in the face and said again, "is there anything I can do to help you?"
I've told the joke before about a man who is in his house when a big storm comes and the roads start flooding and the man is praying for God to help him. Another man in a boat comes by and tells the guy to get in and the man says, nope, God's going to help me. It continues to rain and the guy has to go to the 2nd floor of his house because its so flooded and another guy in a boat comes by and says "get in" and the man tells him, nope, God's going to help him. It continues to storm until the man is on the roof. A helicopter comes by and throws the guy a rope and tells him to grab on and again he says, nope, God's going to help me. The man drowns and goes to Heaven. Once he gets there, he talked to God and says God, I believed in you and had faith that You would save me but You didn't. Why not? God said, "I did. I sent 2 boats and a helicopter. What else did you want Me to do?"
I didn't want to be that man, so I looked at Joshua and said, Yes, as a matter of fact, I do need some help!
I told Joshua my tale of woe. He nodded and I'll be honest, it felt like he was wishing he hadn't even asked the crazy lady what he could do to help her. Come to find out, Joshua's family had a campground we might could get in to if we couldn't find one and he would talk with Joey to see what was going on with our truck.
Joshua got up and I thanked him abundantly for his help as well. I decided to stretch my legs and walked around the dealership some to see if i could even see where our truck was.
The truck was up on a lift this time, which I hadn't seen that before. That was an improvement. I walked around a little bit more and decided to go back inside.
I wasn't really hungry or anything, was just kind of nosing around and came across a little kitchen area. Being the daughter of a bookkeeper, I smelled coffee a LOT in my life. I learned how to make coffee at a very early age and knew what the smell of scorched coffee was - blech! I noticed the coffee pots were both empty and one had burned coffee in the bottom. I washed both pots out and started a fresh pot brewing.
It was then my friend Joey came around the corner looking for me! FOR ME!!
Joey tells me there's some transfer box inside the transmission that is broken in half! BROKEN IN HALF! There is a part, and the earliest it can be there was THURSDAY! Today was TUESDAY! bleh
When we bought our truck, we wanted a strong truck that would last. We did our research and found what we thought was the best combination - a Dodge Ram Diesel 3500. Generally as long as you take care of diesel, proper oil changes, filter changes, proper maintenance, the truck should last 300,000 miles or so. Our truck had 100,030 miles on it.
So, 2 more days in paradise, we needed to find another campground and figure out how to get our trailer towed there.
okay then
Using the two sites we have the best luck with, we found another couple of campgrounds. Both campgrounds have availability and we wouldn't have to move again until the truck is fixed. We head out to look at them in the rental car to see which one we preferred.
We came back to the campground and realized there was another man at the campground who had a big international truck who did some hauling for folks on the side. He hauled our trailer to the new campground and for half the towing cost. That was a blessing!
So, truck diagnosed and part in-route. Trailer in new campground. The end is in sight.
The new campground, Triple C RV Park, was in a very rural area. It was very rustic, had a nice fenced dog park and a swimming pool for D to do some swimming!
With those dates in mind, we got caught up on work, got hair cuts, restocked the kitchen and got ready for Thursday.
