Oregon

To continue on our route, next up was Oregon.

We were looking forward to seeing some Oregon beaches and lighthouses.

It was a good day's drive to where we were headed. One thing about our taking off routine, we kind of have a process.  The guys do the outside and I secure the inside of the rig and the dogs. One of the dogs is very relaxed and the other dog is, well, she's a spaz.  If she can hear us doing anything to get ready, she will start whining and running from the front to back and you might as well forget her eating breakfast, which is pretty frustrating because I don't feed them in the truck so she has to wait to eat until later, sometimes evening depending on how long we drive.

Well, anyway, this is the face we see when its a travel day as soon as we load her up

We drove all day, so this is what it looked like by the time we got to Oregon

The first lighthouse we went to see was at Cape Mears.  The view was just outstanding!

Half of the pictures I take are on the road to what I was headed to see, and those are some of the best photos I have.  Life is a journey, not a destination.

see that little black dot? that's a surfer!

Oregon beaches and lighthouses are just breathtaking. There were several more we were not able to see. We'll just add them to the list for next time.

One of the fun things we wanted to do while we were so close to the sand dunes and beaches, we wanted to rent ATVs and play in the sand.  We were staying at Woahink Lake RV Park, which had great spots and great satellite.  The spots were plenty long and had a great privacy bush wall between the spots.

Right down the road was an ATV place, Torex ATV Rentals. Their website advertised 4-seater ATVs, but none were available when we stopped by.  Also, after reading the website FAQ, it specifically stated that it was possible to go to the beach but to rent the ATVs for 2 hours, so we did. It wasn't until we watched the safety video that we realized we were told to stay within a rectangle space in the dunes over a mile from the beach.....

We decided to make the best of the situation. Instead of a four-seater ATV, we had 2 two-seaters, and we still have one quad for D. We rented in the afternoon, the wind had picked up substantially and the temp had dropped to where it was pretty cool - literally.

J's parents had never driven ATVs before, so we had fun in our rectangle space until we decided we'd had enough of the wind and the cold and headed back in.  I think it only took us about 45 minutes.  But memories were made and we laughed a lot.  I even got some good photos, of course. :)

this is the only water we saw
